Datamax just released the industry’s first PCL5E bar code printer. I am pleasantly surprised at the reception the industry is giving this new printer. While this is not an option with other manufacturers printers, it seems like this was something companies wanted. The feedback I am hearing is that people do not want to use proprietary software, they want the flexibility of printing directly to the printer from any program and not having to convert the data to a specific format. What this means is that if you have a PDF or Word file, you can print directly to this printer. This feature just became available with this new printer line.
