About 18 months ago I met John Burton of Meredith Bay Candle Company in beautiful Meredith, NH. The specialize in hand crafted soy wax candles. They are one of the few candle companies which choose to use soy wax instead of the typical synthetic paraffin wax that is standard in the industry.

Problem:
At the time when I first met John, they were purchasing high-quality pre-printed labels. As they started to grow, there were many more different scents and styles of candle to manufacture and it was difficult trying to keep up with ordering with all of the changes that were happening. Also, most of their runs were short, less then 500 units. The inventory of labels started to grow as well with many labels being obsolete because of the changing of the seasons. With lead time and MOQ’s (minimum order quantities), there had to be a better way.
Solution:
We introduced them to the Epson Colorworks 6000 line of color inkjet label printers. They could standardize on several different sizes of labels and then print on-demand what they needed, when they needed. No need to wait for lead times or minimum quantities. They started testing the printer and the quality of the output. When I visited them, I was blown away with what this printer produced. At first I thought they were showing me the pre-printed labels, but after clarifying that these were printed off of the Epson, I was in awe. As you can see by the image above, the labels look great, the customer is thrilled and it was a win win all around.
