Customer Service is Still Important for Online Stores

Over the past 6 weeks I have been doing a great deal of thinking about business and customer service. What things are important to me? What do I need to make my job and my business run more smoothly?

Even though my responsibilities are on the sales side of the company, I also do a great deal of purchasing and scheduling.  I realized how similar my day-to-day tasks are to those of my customers.  See if you agree.

I have come up with a few things that I appreciate and look for in a vendor/supplier and their level of customer service. Word to the wise (my vendors), remember, the easier someone makes my job the more business I will do with them.  I believe this holds true for my customers as well.

Here are just some customer service things that are important to me:

  1. Responsive to my problem
  2. Getting information in a timely manner
  3. Quick turnaround time when ordering
  4. Providing great quality products
  5. Competitive pricing

When I look at my customer base, I believe their wants and needs are the same as mine.  We are more alike than I ever thought.  We strive to deliver on these ideas each and every time.  Does your vendor do these things for you?  A vendor’s sole responsibility is to make your life easier when sourcing products.  Remember, they are working for you!

So many companies these days are moving to online stores but offer very little support on how and where their products work.  When you call support you are not guaranteed you will get someone who knows your business well. They may or may not be able to provide you with the best solution for your situation.
